In the past few days, Falmouth RFC have received the very sad news that one of the Club’s long term players, First & Second Team Secretary, Selector and Committee Member, William Pover (always affectionately known as Bill), has passed away.

Bill spent over twenty years serving his Country in the Royal Navy before working on the Fleet Tenders from Coastlines on North Parade. A Club Selector during the Club’s ‘golden era’ in the 1970s, when the Club were County Cup winners, Merit Table winners, as well as County Sevens Champions, he was Chairman of Selectors until the mid-1980s.

As you can see from the number of positions Bill held, not only was he a valued player but he also put his heart and soul into the running and administration of the Club he adored. Bill was a true Clubman, and very much like his friend Cliff Wills (who also sadly passed in 2020) was loyal, committed, always ready to go the extra mile but most importantly, social and fun.

Bill, you will be missed in so many ways and the Club thanks you so much for your support over the years.

The Club also offers its deepest sympathy to Bill’s family and friends and we standby to support you at this very sad time.
