Falmouth lost 22-7 at home in horrible blustery conditions to Crediton in the Tribute Western West division.
Two quick scores from Josh Lee gave the Devon side the lead, which spurred them on to gain all three points against a Falmouth side without seven first team players due to injury and unavailability.
Falmouth pushed for a comeback, which seemed possible after Simon Bailey was hauled over the line midway through the second half however the Eagles could not muster a comeback this time.
Director of Rugby Graham Whitmore said: “It was a difficult game for both sides with the conditions as they were.
“Unfortunately we just made too many errors and although we had lots of possession in their final third we just coughed the ball up too many times.”
Falmouth had the first chance in the 7th minute after Seb Firth intercepted a dangerous pass before offloading to Nick Carne, who if had not been tackled on the halfway line by the Crediton fullback looked through on goal.
However it was Crediton who scored first in the 28th minute through second rower Lee, after several phases of rucks the forward crashed through just right of the posts and Oliver Down converted to make it 7-0.
It was again Lee who scored Crediton’s second, this time set up by Ed Brady who stepped inside and offloaded for the forward to run through and score to make it 12-0.
After the second half Crediton scored twice in quick succession, first through Devon Hosegood before Mark Lee kicked over the Eagles defence for Down to claim his second of the game and make it 22-0.
Despite being down Falmouth were not defeated and dominated possession and their hard work was finally rewarded in the 49th minute When a driving maul was heaved over the line for Bailey to pick up his first try of the game and Justyn Irons’ conversion took the score to 22-7.
Despite continuing to have the majority of possession for the second half and having a spell of pressure close to the line down the right wing the Eagles could not find any way to comeback in the stormy weather which left the scores at 22-7.
