Welcome to my new blog, a review and update of everything happening at Falmouth RFC.

So, it's Summer and everything is quiet at the club? Not quite....

Firstly, on the field. Preparation for the Eagles 1st ever season in Western Counties has begun and training has restarted for senior players, our director of rugby and coach, Graham Whitmore and Chris Morgan are both refreshed and buzzing with new ideas following their visits to South Africa and New Zealand. The players are getting the advantage of the new learning on Tuesdays and Thursday's at 7pm, any new players are welcome.

Our junior teams have also been training over the summer, with fun and fitness sessions for several teams, helping them develop their fitness and skills.

Information on training and matches for the forthcoming season will be available on the club website and via respective coaches of all age groups.

Falmouth RFC have been playing cricket. A narrow loss to the Seaview Inn was followed up with a glorious win on the road against the Victory Inn at Porthtowan, a return match against the Seaview is scheduled on July 30th.

Off the field, the volunteer weekend on June was a success with the initial stages of the redevelopment of the clubhouse taking place. We also have plans to complete the fitting of PVC fencing on the other side of the pitch by the start of the season.

Some of our fantastic volunteers of Falmouth RFC, the 'Thursday Gang' are doing the vast majority of this work. Dave Spear, Jeff Maddern, John 'Proper Job' Williams and others spend a few hours at the club every week, doing odd jobs and renovations, improving the look of the club every week, enjoying a pasty and a few mugs of tea along the way. Anyone interested in joining please message me.

Carnival!

Falmouth RFC is proud to continue the tradition of hosting the Falmouth walking carnival on August 5th, I'm sure Jade will ensure that Falmouth mini and juniors will be a huge hit in the 'Black and White', it'd be good to see a big turn out from the club to support this community event.

Falmouth week

We will be hosting the Circus and opening the recreation ground for overflow parking on Red Arrows day, Wednesday August 9th, anyone prepared to help manage car parking on the day, please contact Steve Burrows.

Bar and facilities

We have a new manager, Adrian Mercuri has taken over the running of our bar, bookings and events. Adrian has been a friend of the club for several years but is now turning his professional skills to improve the management of our facilities.

As the first stage of Adrian's tenure, we are redeveloping our clubhouse, the bar is being replaced and the kitchen and cellar have been fully redecorated, please come in and a look.

AGM

The ideal opportunity to see your new bar is on Friday 28th July, this is the date of the FRFC AGM. The Directors and board of Falmouth Rugby Club, will review the last 12 months and look forward to the next year. Afterwards, myself, Graham Whitmore and other club representatives will be having a couple of beers and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sponsors

We have a new sponsorship team, Rosie Fellows and Trevor Ward, are taking forward the fantastic work done by Mike Morris over the years, they are developing a range of packages for our sponsors to promote their business and support our rugby club for mutual benefit, this includes advertising around the ground, in the programme, on our website, branding of club kit, sponsorship of individual players and access to apply for international rugby tickets. Our sponsorship team details are on the website.

Remember, this is your club! The clubhouse is available for you to book for parties and events and we want to hear from you how we can improve what we are and what we do, this includes our facilities, our communications, our website. Get in contact, let me know how we can improve and even better let me know how you can help us get better!!
