EMERGENCY MEAP CHAIN OF COMMAND

  • All PHICIS and First Aid is to be conducted in accordance with their Terms of reference with the Lead First Aider or PHICIS having the final veto on an individual’s fitness to participate in the activity.

  • This MEAP is specifically for Falmouth RFC, The Recreation Ground & Tregenver Pitch, each area is identified within the details of the MEAP which should be checked and updated as appropriate but never less than annually by the Club’s Rugby Safe Lead.

  • In the event of two Falmouth RFC appointed personnel being in attendance, one will be the nominated lead and will be clearly identified as such. If one is a PHICIS and the other an EFA then the Lead will usually be the PHICIS qualified appointee.

  • In the event of an incident requiring an Ambulance, the Lead appointee will attend to the injured person. The supporting appointee will contact the emergency services and relay all relevant information as contained in the specific location data sheet.

  • In the event of both First Aid appointees being required to attend the injured person or there just being a single appointee on site, the Team Manager/Coach will deal with the emergency call.

  • Any known medical conditions, allergies or injuries will be passed to the responding ambulance crew. This information is located on the activity sheet held by the Team Manager which is updated at the start of every session.

  • The Team Manager will contact the emergency contact for the injured player and brief them as to what has happened, and the subsequent actions taken either by FALMOUTH RFC representatives or the emergency services.

REPORTING OF INCIDENTS

All incidents, no matter how seemingly trivial, are to be reported using the FALMOUTH RFC Proactive app. The Rugby Safe Lead (Neville Curnow) has the app and all FALMOUTH RFC appointees are encouraged to load the app so that in absence of the Rugby Safe Lead, session checks and any incidents can be reported.

An RFU hard copy report form is also located in the First Aid and PHICIS resource file located in the FALMOUTH RFC First Aid Kit Bag.
